However, Hospice UK’s Dying Matters campaign aims to change this by breaking the stigma surrounding death, challenging preconceptions, and promoting public openness about end-of-life issues. This year, Dying Matters Awareness Week will be taking place from 8th – 14th May. Here are some resources to help with grief, bereavement and ...

For the Love of Dogs

A survey carried out in 2017 ‘Better at Home’, discovered that over two million people in the UK know an elderly person whose pet was put to sleep or rehomed when they moved into a residential care or nursing home. The survey also found around 20% of elderly people would put their health at risk and refuse to go into a care home without their pet. The companionship of animals can provide a valuable source of comfort and relief for people, and one of the many benefits of live-in care is that our clients can remain with their beloved pets. We recently asked our carers if they had any stories about their client’s pets that they would like to share and ...

World Poetry Day – Working in Care

At The Good Care Group, to celebrate World Poetry Day we created a competition for our carers. This was the perfect opportunity to get creative and write a poem. It was also a lovely activity for our clients to get involved in. Our chosen theme was ‘working in care’, in which we received several entries that were all excellent. Sonya, one of our Professional Live-in Carers poem caught our eye as it captured a typical day in the life of a live-in carer, and what it involves.  It was also light hearted, positive and demonstrated the special relationship between a carer and a client.  You may be asking yourself why live-in care? This poem could help you with that decision. ...

Here at The Good Care Group, we’ve been running our hourly care services in London for four months now and have already seen an increase in carers and clients. We are very excited to grow the service this year and also welcome more amazing carers to the team.  Viviana, who is part of our team of hourly carers, has been supporting her client on trips whilst our live-in carers are on their breaks.  Here is an insight into a day in Viviana’s life as an hourly carer: “I met my client on a cold Friday in December 2022 and as soon as I introduced myself to him, he started talking to me like we have known each other for a ...

International Women’s Day

At The Good Care Group, our team consists of individuals from various backgrounds, gender identities, and cultures that all bring something unique to the company. Today, we wanted to bring attention to all the female colleagues within our organisation that work incredibly hard towards the success of The Good Care Group. Hannah Morgan, Chief Operating Officer, had this to say: “International Women’s Day is an important day in my calendar each year as it gives me an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of women across the globe, remark on the progress that has been made, as well as making space to consider how much more there is to do to reach gender parity, and how we can all help. ...
