The Cost of Hourly Home Care | The Good Care Group

The cost of hourly home care

Hourly home care is provided to people living in their own homes who require additional support with day-to-day life.

Popping in for care visits as little as one hour per visit, our carers can help with anything from cooking and light housekeeping to providing a listening ear over a cup of tea or accompanying you on outings into the local community. Anything that helps you live more confidently and independently in your own home.

For over 10 years, The Good Care Group has provided high-quality home care services throughout the UK. Our hourly home care empowers people to live independently in the comfort of their own homes while improving their overall health and well-being. We offer highly personalised, one-to-one care that reflects individual needs, choices, and preferences, allowing clients to maintain and enjoy their preferred lifestyle.

We are here to provide advice and guidance every step of the way. Learn more about the costs of hourly home care and how The Good Care Group can provide the highly personalised care you need in the comfort of your own home.

How much does hourly home care cost?

The cost of hourly home care at home is determined by a number of factors, including the type of care you choose and the frequency of your visits. There may also be additional fees if you live with a health condition requiring clinical care from a nurse-led carer.

Hourly home care costs are typically in line with – and often less than – what you would pay for residential care. Hourly home care also has the added benefit of receiving care from a professional and experienced carer who is dedicated only to you. This one-to-one tailored support is something that is difficult to achieve in even the best residential care settings.

Contact our friendly team to arrange for a free home care assessment. One of our trusted Care Advisors will meet with you and your family to discuss your care needs and how we can support you and your family. We then know exactly what is needed so that you have an accurate cost to help with planning and financing the care arrangement.

Our prices are always transparent and never include any hidden fees. Since we are a fully managed care provider and regulated by the CQC, you also won’t have to worry about agency fees.

How is hourly care at home provided?

Hourly care from a competent and compassionate visiting carer can be provided from a 60-minute visit a day for a minimum of three times per week. Our service is flexible, so you can have as many visits as you require to make sure you have the support you need.

If you have complex needs, care can be provided over a 24-hour period. Home care can also be provided by us as a live-in care arrangement if a more permanent service is required. For families looking for someone to cover the absence of their usual carer, respite care is also available.

Available funding for hourly home care

To help cover some or all of the costs of your hourly home care, you may be entitled to either social care funding provided by your local authority or healthcare funding provided by the NHS.

You may be eligible for funding from your local council depending on your financial circumstances and your care needs. Your local authority will only fund care at home (referred to as social funding) if your assets are worth less than £23,500.

If you have had a care needs assessment and have an identified healthcare need, you may be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding (CHC). A healthcare need relates to the treatment, control or prevention of a disease, illness, injury or disability and the aftercare of a person living with these conditions.

CHC funding is organised by your local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to support you to receive care in your own home. It is important to note that CHC funding is not means tested, so even if you exceed the threshold for social care funding, you may still be eligible for CHC funding from the NHS.

Many families are faced with having to fund the care they receive themselves (referred to as self-funding care). For these families, there are options to help finance care at home, including a Care Fees Annuity or an Equity Release scheme.

In Scotland, both social care funding and nursing care funding are accessed through your local authority and are free to those who are assessed as needing it.
