Types of home care we provide in Scotland
When you’re looking for the right type of home care for yourself or a loved one, we know how difficult it can be to try and decipher between the different options available. The Good Care Group is proud to offer both live-in care and hourly home care in Scotland and the surrounding area. Find out more about these two types of home care below.
Live-in care in Scotland
If you or a family member has complex health needs, such as cancer or dementia, our live-in care option might be an ideal solution. As the name suggests, we can arrange for one of our carers to live with you in your home, ensuring that care is available 24 hours a day. Choosing live in care in Scotland means you can stay in an environment you love and know well, rather than having the stress of moving somewhere unfamiliar. We can accommodate all of your needs, even if these are complex or you have a medical condition that requires specialist care.
We attentively match our live-in carers to our clients to ensure the best possible care is provided. We always choose carers who have experience with specific health conditions, taking into consideration their likes and interests, as well as their personality, to make sure they’re a good match.
By choosing live-in care from our professional carers in Scotland, you can continue living at home – surrounded by memories past and present, and where you feel most comfortable – instead of the stress and upheaval of moving into a residential care home. Whether you’re living with a complex medical condition such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s or cancer, or both you and your spouse need assistance with personal care and mobility, live-in care provides you with choice and reassurance – and for couples, is a much more cost effective option for care.
If you or a loved one require clinical care, we can deliver specialist, nurse-led care which is overseen by our experienced clinicians. Our professional carers are specially trained to fulfil nursing tasks, such as PEG feeding, insulin administration or stoma care, allowing you to stay safe and well at home even if you have more complex medical requirements.
Why choose home care from The Good Care Group?
The Good Care Group is one of the only live-in care providers awarded with an ‘Excellent’ rating by the CI, and we’re exceptionally proud to be keeping as many people as possible living in their own homes whilst receiving remarkable care. We believe there isn’t anywhere better than the comfort of your own home, which is why we’re dedicated to providing the very best home care in Scotland.

Jessica Monaghan
Hourly Regional Manager,
I’m Jessica, Hourly Care Manager for The Good Care Group. I first joined the company in 2019 as a Live-in Care Manager, which I did for two years before leaving to start up an hourly care service for a franchise provider in North London. I rejoined The Good Care Group in 2022 as the Hourly Care Manager.
As Hourly Care Manager, my role involves working alongside our client services team, assessing new clients, creating robust care plans and risk assessments of their needs and working alongside the scheduling team to find a suitable match of carer for each client to ensure that their care is set up to achieve the best outcomes. I may also need to work alongside our Occupational Therapist or Consultant Admiral Nurse when setting up more complex care placements. My role varies day to day, and a lot of what I do involves supporting my team of carers and my clients with whatever the day brings.
My career in health and social care started in 2010. Since then, I have worked in various roles including as a carer, care scheduler, care supervisor, care manager and registered care manager.
As part of my role, I need to complete regular calls to check in and stay up to date with my care team and clients. Every three months, my care team is called for supervision and clients have visits and monitoring calls to ensure that they are happy with the care being provided to them. Clients also have six-monthly or monthly reviews of their care. If there are incidents or accidents, I provide support to them to ensure the safety of everyone involved, ensuring to review risk assessments and care plans to prevent future occurrences. I also work with the training team and support carers with their career development. My role is to ensure that the care team feels supported and clients are happy with the care and support that they are receiving.
I hold a Level 5 in Health and Social Care and have supported individuals with a wide range of needs including dementia, palliative care, Parkinson’s, cancer, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, learning disabilities, autism, mental health and neurological conditions.
Alongside my Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management, I also hold a Level 3 in Education and Training, BILD Assessors qualification and an Open University qualification in Autism Awareness. I am a first aid instructor, moving and handling instructor and medication trainer. I believe that training is a vital part of the care role and continual development ensures the individuals that we support get the quality care they need.
I have witnessed both obstacles and successes within the sector and seen first-hand what difference can be made whether big or small in someone's life. I believe that the journey I have taken from starting as a carer to becoming a manager has allowed me to understand what support needs to be provided not only to the individuals we support, but the amazing carers that are providing it. I understand the importance of ensuring the highest quality of care is delivered, and enjoy leading and encouraging my team to work towards the best possible outcomes. I am an experienced care manager and have managed both hourly and live-in care in a home care setting. I have been able to see the benefits of people receiving care in their own home and remaining at home.
I am very proud of the journey I have been on to get to where I am currently in my career. I feel proud of my development and that I have been able to witness everything I have along the way from a carer to a manager.
Our Home Care Services In Scotland
Better than a care agency in Scotland
Unlike care agencies in Scotland, we directly employ and train all of our carers ourselves, which means we are able to cover your regular carer on the rare occasion they should be absent, and provide them all with high-quality training. We are also able to take care of their paperwork, Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) checks and provide them with company benefits – something which they would have to do themselves if they were self-employed by a care agency.
Private care in Scotland
Choosing private care in Scotland from The Good Care Group means that you can create your future around your wants and needs, instead of having choices prescribed to you. Your care plan will be crafted carefully around your preferences, including any medical or health requirements, but also your social requirements and wellbeing, too. Taking a holistic approach to clients’ care plans is something that we pride ourselves on.
Our professional and friendly carers are trained to deliver person-centred care in a discreet manner, and essentially deliver support in a way that is meaningful to you. So, whether that’s helping you to get up and dressed in the morning or assisting you to attend a weekly club with friends, we’ll be there in whatever way you need.

Specialist dementia care in Scotland
Receiving dementia care from us allows you or your loved one to have a personalised care plan. This covers all your medical requirements, symptoms and personal preferences in a familiar environment.
Whether you or a loved one have just been diagnosed with vascular dementia and are coming to terms with what this will mean for all of you, or if your loved one has advanced Alzheimer’s and needs daily assistance with personal care, our Scotland team can provide you with the reassurance that you and your loved ones need to continue living in your own home.
The Good Care Group are specialists in dementia home care, which is overseen by our resident Consultant Admiral Nurse, Jane Pritchard. As well as having Jane’s guidance and expertise, all of our carers receive specialist dementia training that takes them through the different types of dementia, how symptoms may present and ways in which to care for individuals living with the condition.

Domiciliary care in Scotland
Domiciliary care, often the traditional term used to describe care at home, is an ideal way to continue living life on your terms with additional help from a care team. Our professional domiciliary carers can help with a variety of tasks in and around your home – keeping on top of the housework, assisting you to prepare your favourite meals and helping you look after your pet companions, to helping you wash your hair, getting dressed and giving you gentle reminders to take medication.
Our carers in Scotland can also assist with running errands, taking you to the local supermarket and accompanying you to appointments, giving you and your loved ones the added reassurance that you’ll always have the right type of support for you.
Short-term respite care in Scotland
The need for care can arise at any given time – perhaps after a hospital admission and you need extra support at home during your recovery, or if you care for a loved one and need to take an unexpected leave of absence. With respite care from our experienced team in Scotland, we can step in and provide high-quality care on a short-term basis so that you’re not left without vital assistance when you need it most.
Respite care in Scotland can be delivered in a way that suits you and your care requirements via either hourly care or live-in care on a pre-planned basis. That way, if you’re a caregiver for a loved one, our professional carers can fill in for you while you take a few hours off each week and recharge your batteries or even for several weeks if you decide to take a longer break from your care duties.
Compassionate and fully-trained carers in Scotland
Our carers in Scotland meet with their manager on a regular basis and have access to assistance 24 hours a day. We have a stringent and rigorous recruitment process; only 2% of our applicants successfully pass and join our team as fully qualified carers. This helps ensure the care you receive is delivered by only the very best carers in Scotland.
Supporting both our clients and carers is extremely important to us. All of our carers in Scotland have regular catch-ups with their dedicated care manager, with assistance on hand 24 hours a day should either of you require it.
