I first began my career in care in 1998 when a friend of mine was working as a domiciliary carer. She loved her job so much, so I felt I wanted to join her and was successful in securing a role at the same company. This started my passion for care and eventually after two years of hands-on care I became a Care Coordinator, then a Deputy Manager. After 18 months I became a Registered Manager, managing over 7,000 care hours a week. During this time I continued to be a carer at the weekend to ensure my skills were kept up to date. I was then afforded the opportunity to become a Dual Registered Manager, running two domiciliary care branches ,overseeing 12,000 hours of care a week. This gave me valuable management experience. In March 2015 I became a Regional Manager and have worked at that level ever since.
Having experienced care in different settings, I genuinely believe that live-in care is by far the best option for most people who need long-term care and support. I have been committed to on-going development having gained qualifications throughout my career in care, including the Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care, tracheostomy and suction care, end-of-life training , a children’s services award, medication train-the-trainer award and moving and handling. In addition, I have completed The Good Care Group’s comprehensive industry leading care training programme.
