At The Good Care Group, we understand that a cancer diagnosis can be life-changing. But, with high quality nurse-led care, you can continue to live well at home, with independence and dignity.
When you choose cancer care at home, one of our experienced care managers will work with you to understand your medical needs, routines, and wishes. Then, similar to our live in care service, a highly-skilled carer will move into the home to provide full-time support.
What is cancer?
Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the body. When the body’s normal control mechanisms stop working, old cells do not die, and instead form new abnormal cells. These cells may form a mass tissue (tumour), or begin in the blood, immune system, or bone, depending on the cancer type. There are various signs and symptoms of cancer. Here are some symptoms associated with, but not specific to, cancer:
Fatigue
A lump or thickening under the skin
Weight changes (unintended weight loss or weight gain)
Skin changes, such as yellowing, darkening or redness
Changes in bowel or bladder habits
Hoarseness
Persistent indigestion
Persistent, unexplained muscle or joint pain
Persistent, unexplained fevers or night sweats
Unexplained bleeding or bruising
According to Macmillan, almost 3.5 million people are living with cancer in the UK. With 420,000 people diagnosed each year.
For over fifteen years, we’ve supported hundreds of families across England and Scotland with exceptional home care.
With our carer matching process, we’ll take the time to pair you with a highly-skilled carer who understands your medical needs and wishes. They’ll support you to maintain your independence and routine as you live at home.
One of our care managers will work with you to create a detailed care plan based on your unique preferences, health needs and lifestyle. So you can rest assured that you’ll receive the very best care, tailored to you.
CQC and CI regulated care for England and Scotland
As a fully-regulated provider, we take part in routine inspections from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England, and the Care Inspectorate (CI) in Scotland.
We’re currently rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC, and ‘Very Good’ by the CI, placing us within the top 3% of home care providers for our safe, effective, caring, well-led and responsive care.

I started working in the care industry over 25 years ago, taking on a variety of roles before joining The Good Care Group in 2019. I love seeing the difference excellent home care can make in the lives of our clients. "I’m Sabah, the Clinical Lead for the Good Care Group. I joined The Good Care Group in August 2024 and bring over nine years of experience in health and social care. My career in healthcare started with a simple goal: to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Over the years, I have built on that foundation, gaining expertise through a variety of roles and challenges that have shaped my approach to delivering high standards of care.
I am a registered nurse with the NMC and I have worked in care for over nine years. I started as a Nurse, working in both hospital and community settings, where I supported patients with a range of acute and chronic conditions as well as end-of-life care."

What are the five types of cancer?
Carcinomas: this begins in the skin or tissues that line the internal organs
Sarcomas: this cancer develops in the bone, cartilage, fat, muscle or other connective tissues
Leukaemia: this begins in the blood and bone marrow
Lymphomas: this starts in the immune system
Central nervous system: this is when cancer develops in the brain and spinal cord
Short-term care services can also provide the opportunity to experience how live-in care works and whether it is the right choice for you.
What is the cost of cancer care?
Cancer care is a form of specialist care, and typically carries a higher cost of care compared to other home care services. However, live-in care can offer better value than traditional hourly care services. This is because other care providers tend to include “extra” charges that can exceed the price of a fully-personalised live-in service.
Our cancer care cost is typically in line with – and sometimes more cost-effective than – residential home care. We provide a level of dedicated, one-to-one attention that residential care simply cannot replicate, ensuring you remain safe and comfortable in the home you love.
