What is arthritis care at home?

At The Good Care Group, we understand how arthritis can affect your ability to live comfortably at home. With expert home care in place, you can continue to live well, with independence and dignity.

When you choose arthritis care at home, an experienced care manager will work with you to understand your medical needs, routines, and wishes. Then, similar to our live in care service, a highly-skilled carer will move into the home to provide full-time support in managing the condition.

In-house carer training

All of our carers complete a training programme developed by in-house clinicians before being assigned to a placement. Plus, they’ll receive additional enhanced training for complex care needs.

Fully managed service

We are not a care agency. We directly employ, train, and supervise all of our carers. That means you’ll receive consistent, reliable support, from carers we know and trust.

Dementia care experts

Our in-house experts, including Clinical Lead Sabah Shah and Dementia Champion Nichola Proctor, support our care teams to deliver compassionate dementia care at every stage of the condition.

We’ve won more awards than any other home care provider for our service, training and culture. Including a Home Care Award, and a National Dementia Care Award.

What are the different types of arthritis?

There are two main types of arthritis: osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, and it’s caused by the breakdown of the protective cartilage on the ends of your bones, which leads to painful swelling and inflammation.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease, meaning the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells in the body leading to inflammation. With RA, the immune system mainly attacks the joints, causing pain, swelling and stiffness. RA is also characterised by the appearance of firm lumps under the skin near the affected joint known as rheumatoid arthritis nodules.

Types of arthritis care available

We have a range of home care services available for people living with arthritis. From 24-hour live-in care and short-term care to respite care, which allows a family carer to take a much-needed break. Additionally, we can provide visiting care for families across London.

Short-term care services can also provide the opportunity to experience how live-in care works and whether it is the right choice for you.
