Lina’s progression in care: “This job changed my life”

Working as a live-in carer can not only be rewarding, but it provides some exciting career development opportunities too. At The Good Care Group, we want to help our Carers pursue their career goals, whether that is developing their care knowledge with our specialist training courses, or supporting Carers to move into other roles within the business.

Our Care Manager Lina started her career at TGCG in 2018 as a Professional live-in Carer. “It is very rewarding to improve people’s quality of life and see them smiling. I have made strong and lasting relationships with my clients, their families and my colleagues.

Originally from Thessaloniki, Greece, Lina has had a long and varied professional career. She trained as a nurse, has also worked in hospitality and owned her own business. When the opportunity arose to work as a Carer in the UK, Lina made the transition to live-in care.

Caring is part of who I am. I ended up in the care industry by chance, but caring for other people is something that I think I am made for. This job changed my life. I’ve loved having the opportunity to see how care is conducted in the UK which is very advanced. I have learnt so much about people with Dementia or those with mobility issues.”

After joining TGCG as a Professional Carer, Lina soon became part of our Rapid Response team; a dynamic role that involves attending to issues and emergencies in clients’ homes at short notice. Earlier this year Lina then started her new role as a Care Manager, supporting a small team of live-in Carers and clients in London.

“I’ve really enjoyed having the chance to improve my skills and knowledge throughout my career with TGCG. You are surrounded by people who really support you. I can certainly feel the difference working for an Outstanding care provider.”

Whatever your aspirations, we are passionate about supporting our teams to develop their skills and knowledge. This all starts with an initial 5 days’ induction training in our London office, introducing you to our ways of working and it’s also a great way to refresh your skills and knowledge. From there, you have the opportunity for further development such as studying for your level 2 diploma in working in care services and a level 3 award in awareness of Dementia. We also provide advanced Dementia courses, Parkinson’s training and end of life training too.
