Multiple sclerosis care services
Discover a person-centred approach to care, from the comfort of your own home. Contact us today, and learn how expert-led multiple sclerosis care can support you.
Many people diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis are in their thirties and forties, making the thought of moving into residential care a difficult one to process. At The Good Care Group, we provide highly-personalised, nurse-led support at home. So you can stay in the place you love, while receiving the care you need.
One of our care managers will take the time to get to know your needs and wishes, creating a care plan that’s built around you. Then, similar to our live in care service, a highly-skilled carer will move into the home to provide full-time support and companionship, whenever needed.
What is multiple sclerosis?
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a long-term condition that affects the nerves in your central nervous system, which includes your brain and spinal cord. In MS, the coating that protects your nerves – known as Myelin – is damaged, causing symptoms that change how we move, think and feel.
CQC and CI regulated care for England and Scotland
As a fully-regulated provider, we take part in routine inspections from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England, and the Care Inspectorate (CI) in Scotland.
We’re currently rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC, and ‘Very Good’ by the CI, placing us within the top 3% of home care providers for our safe, effective, caring, well-led and responsive care.

Our care is built completely around your needs and wishes. That means you get to choose how to live your life every day, and our carers will be there to offer the right level of support.

Meet our live in care team
Our regional care managers have extensive experience in the industry, and work closely with our care managers to ensure your loved ones receive the highest quality of care.
"As Regional Operations Manager, I’m proud to support families across the south of England, including London, Surrey, East Essex, Kent, Essex, Oxfordshire, Hampshire and Cornwall.
I started working in the care industry over 25 years ago, taking on a variety of roles before joining The Good Care Group in 2019. I love seeing the difference excellent home care can make in the lives of our clients. It’s so rewarding to watch them achieve personal goals, and live life on their own terms – and it’s great to be part of such a fantastic team of skilled professionals within the care industry."
Nyree Doyle
Regional Operations Manager, North
"As the Regional Manager I support the care managers in their role to ensure that we can deliver a high quality of care to clients in the comfort of their home.
I began my career in care 17 years ago as a care worker in the community of a domiciliary care company, this was when I decided that this is what I wanted to do. I progressed through the same company to being the Branch Manager and met a lot of amazing people and clients along the way. My journey with The Good Care Group has been the best career choice I have made. I love my job and I am proud to be part of a team that really cares.
For my skills and qualifications, I have completed the skilled management and skilled dementia programme from New College, Lanarkshire."

Over the years, I have built on that foundation, gaining expertise through a variety of roles and challenges that have shaped my approach to delivering high standards of care.
I am a registered nurse with the NMC and I have worked in care for over nine years. I started as a Nurse, working in both hospital and community settings, where I supported patients with a range of acute and chronic conditions as well as end-of-life care."

What are the different types of multiple sclerosis?
Relapsing-Remitting MS (RRMS): this is the most common form of MS affecting about 75%-85% of people who are diagnosed. People living with RRMS will have temporary periods where symptoms flare up, called relapse or new symptoms appear, then the symptoms disappear – this is called remission.
Secondary-Progressive MS (SPMS): with SPMS a person’s symptoms will worsen more steadily over time, with or without relapses and remissions. Before disease-modifying therapies were available 50% of people with RRMS progressed to SPMS approximately 10 years after diagnosis.
Primary-Progressive MS (PPMS): this type of MS is not very common occurring in only 10% of people with MS and is characterised by slowly worsening symptoms from the beginning without any relapses or remissions.
Progressive-Relapsing MS (PRMS): This is a very rare form of MS occurring in 5% of people with MS. Those living with PRMS have steadily worsening symptoms from the beginning with acute relapses and no remissions, with or without recovery.
Short term care or respite care
We offer a range of home care services for those living with multiple sclerosis. From 24-hour live-in care and short-term care to respite care, which allows a family carer to take a much-needed break.
Short-term care services can also provide the opportunity to experience how live-in care works and whether it is the right choice for you.
What is the cost of multiple sclerosis care?
While multiple sclerosis care typically carries a higher cost compared to other home care services, live-in care can offer better value than a traditional hourly service. With other domiciliary care providers, “extra” charges can exceed the price of a fully-personalised live-in service.
Our MS care is typically in line with – and sometimes more cost-effective than – residential home care. It provides a level of dedicated, one-to-one attention that residential care simply cannot replicate, ensuring you remain in the home you love.
