Carer Story – Happy Work Anniversary
As a professional live-in carer, Fiorì recently celebrated 10 years with The Good Care Group. We caught up with her to explore why she loves working as a live-in carer and the experiences she has had at TGCG;
“Working as a live-in carer has always been about being able to give that one on one, individualised approach to caring for a person. I like getting to know the person and finding out about their lives.”
Over the years, I have enjoyed many different scenarios. One of my highlights being, working for an extended period of time, with a client that travelled the world, via cruises. I was able to provide her with a sense of calm with my familiar presence, when she was most distressed by her unfamiliar surroundings. It was amazing how having us around allowed her to fully experience life despite her circumstances, when others would have given up. I am very proud of helping make a difference and the beautiful way that was achieved.”
Fiorì explains how her role as a professional live-in carer has allowed her to meet a wealth of different people, living with different conditions;
“Each client has a completely different perspective of how to deal with their lives after diagnosis, so it’s crucial that when in situ with them I can give them back some hope and rediscover some of their joys together.
All I want to do is make a difference. That difference is when I have seen an unexpected smile, a better attitude, help to adjust and see that their quality of life improves and all the better for knowing that I made it happen.”
It’s true to say that our professional live-in carers are truly inspirational and allow our clients to live a truly independent life from the comfort of their home, as well as still continuing their much loved hobbies and interests.
