ADAPT with The Good Care Group

The Good Care Group recently won the ‘Dementia Specialist’ award at the 2023 Stars of Social Care Awards. This recognises our specialism as a provider of quality dementia care and is a testament to the fantastic teams we have here at The Good Care Group.

Did you know over 60% of our clients are living with dementia of some type? It’s very important for our Professional Carers to feel equipped to provide the right support, to enable our clients to live well with dementia. When you join our care team, part of your induction will focus on providing outstanding dementia care. But for those Carers supporting clients with more complex dementia care needs, or for those who want to further develop their knowledge about dementia, we also offer an advanced dementia course – Adapting to Dementia Advanced level Programme at The Good Care Group (ADAPT).

What is the ADAPT course?

The course is made up of a series of webinars from our Occupational Therapist, Jackie Cooper and our Consultant Admiral Nurse, Dr Jane Pritchard. Over the course of six – eight weeks you will learn more about providing the best care possible to your client and learning new skills that will help you in your day to day role. We’re passionate about providing opportunities for our teams to develop their knowledge, should they wish, and our newly launched ADAPT training is just one part of our commitment to you. All of our learning opportunities are designed so that you feel confident, supported and excited to put your learning into practice.

Jackie, our Occupational Therapist says

“The ADAPT course is a fantastic course to support our Carers in the care and support of our clients living with dementia, building on the training they receive at their induction. As well as teaching Carers more about the conditions associated with living with dementia, it introduces them to tools and strategies in how to communicate effectively with their client, reduce their client’s levels of agitation and how to engage clients with activities appropriate to their abilities. The course provides the opportunity for Carers to reflect on their experiences and practice as well as to share ideas and resources.

If you’re looking for a place to grow your skills and care knowledge, we think there’s nowhere better than The Good Care Group. Get in touch with our Recruitment team on 0203 728 7570 or email recruitment@thegoodcaregroup.com
