Empowering Carers Through Continuous Development

At The Good Care Group (TGCG), we believe that learning is a lifelong journey, one that empowers our carers to deliver exceptional care while growing personally and professionally. This Learning at Work Week, we’re proud to celebrate the dedication of our Professional Carers and the robust training and development opportunities that support them every step of the way.

A culture of continuous learning

From day one, our carers are welcomed into a culture that champions growth and development. Our comprehensive induction equips our carers with essential skills in areas such as Dementia care, medication administration, safeguarding, and end-of-life care. We have a 5-day course delivered weekly in Oxford with our sister company, Oxford Aunts, for Live-in Carers, and a 3-day course once a month for Hourly Carers. This hands-on training ensures our carers feel confident, capable, and fully prepared to deliver outstanding care.

Beyond induction, we offer ongoing training, supervision, coaching, and mentoring. Carers have the opportunity to specialise in complex conditions such as Parkinson’s and Dementia or to pursue leadership roles within TGCG. To see this in action, take a look at Angelica’s story and learn how she progressed to become an Hourly Care Manager.

Supporting carers in Scotland: SVQ Level 2 Qualification

In Scotland, we’ve partnered with Rewards Training to help our Professional Carers achieve the SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, a requirement for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). We fully fund this qualification and compensate carers for their time spent training.

This initiative underscores our commitment to professional development and ensures our carers meet essential regulatory standards.

Building a supportive community

Through our online Carer Community platform, carers can connect, share experiences, and access resources 24/7. This network fosters collaboration, reduces isolation, and ensures that support is always within reach. Learning is more than just sitting in a classroom!

Learning at Work Week is a time to recognise and celebrate the growth and achievements of our carers. Their commitment to learning not only enhances their own lives but also profoundly impacts the lives of those they care for. If you’re passionate about care and eager to grow in a supportive environment, consider joining our team. There’s nowhere better to learn, grow, and provide outstanding care.
