At The Good Care Group, our Professional live-in Carers don’t only support those living on their own, but we also care for couples, including those with different care needs. We are proud that our service enables couples to stay together, in the comfort of their own homes with their much loved spouse.
Our Edinburgh care team were contacted by M and C’s daughter after both husband and wife ended up in the same hospital. M and C were very keen to return to their own home together, but recognised that they would require additional support around the home. Prior to their hospital stay, they were both living independently with no package of care in place, however due to their decline in health they now required full time care.
The Good Care Group assessed both M and C and we were able to support their joint hospital discharge a week after. When they returned home they were both back in their own comforts and loved to be able to spend quality time together with the support of their Professional Carer. Their Carer was able to support both M and C to get out around Edinburgh together, meeting with family for lunches, and even planned out and accompanied them on a trip to their original home town in Perthshire.
As shown by M and C, you are able to live the life you wish to lead, share your home comforts with your much loved spouse, as well as receiving the care you both require.
One of the most significant considerations couples also have to make when choosing their care is cost. If a couple moves into a care home, the cost of care is typically double the price of receiving high quality, live-in care at home. With live-in care there is only one weekly fee for the care team, with a small supplement for couples care depending on needs, so it is an incredibly cost-effective alternative to moving into a care home for couples.
