All of our dedicated team are selected because of their alignment to our company values – they are evident in everything that we do. Professional Carer and Care Ambassador Allison shared her thoughts with us recently that shows the importance of one of our core values – trust.
“When working as a carer one of the most important things is to build your client’s trust and confidence in you and that you will keep them safe, living in their own homes.
They need to trust that you will always keep the house in good order and cook good, well balanced and tasty meals.
Trust that they can talk to you about anything and never be judged and that you will give them the time to chat and enjoy companionship.
Trust that you will treat their friends and family with respect and that you will do all you can to help them feel comfortable sharing their home with you.
As Carers we must respect our clients’ home and possessions. Always remember that when you first go to a client, how hard it must be for them, having a stranger in their home going in and out of every part of their home, doing the things they used to do.
That is why building trust is so important, it’s a big responsibility to be a carer and it’s a very rewarding job. Every day feels like you add another piece of the jigsaw of your Client’s life and I really enjoy finding out more about their lives.”
Allison has worked with The Good Care Group since 2016. Her experience began when she helped care for her mother-in-law, before moving into a professional caring role. Since then she has supported a number of clients with a variety of health conditions, gaining more and more experience along the way. Allison believes that live-in care is the best option for clients where possible, ensuring continuity of care in the familiarity and comfort of their own home.
