Have you considered couples care?

With care homes beginning to open their doors, and loved ones allowed to visit for that much missed companionship and embrace, it has been a tough year for couples who have been separated by the pandemic.

The news this week is full of feel good stories of couples of over 60 years, partners with dementia and others forced to isolate away from their loved ones, reunite at the start of the road out of lockdown life

Here at The Good Care Group, we have had the joy of sharing our ‘feel good’ news throughout the pandemic, with our Live in Professional Carers providing care to our client couples. From wedding anniversaries, landmark birthdays and Christmas Day celebrations, our Professional Carers have provided our clients with the opportunity to continue to create loving memories together.

A lovely story was shared by our Professional Carer Halina, back in January, who was caring for her clients during Christmas time.

“It was a pleasure working with this wonderful couple M and G during the Christmas time. Despite this difficult time for all of us, we managed to create a joyful and pleasant atmosphere. We sang songs and listened to Christmas music. They told me how they met and I saw that these memories gave them a lot of joy. They are wonderful people, full of self-respect and love, they can be role models for all. It’s a pleasure to look after them.”

Our Live in couples care package enables our clients to stay together in the comfort of their own home, whilst receiving the care they require to live an independent and fulfilling life together. Our carers can provide care to couples who may be dealing with different levels of care needs. Having a care package in place from an early stage for one person, means the transition to providing care to a couple in the long term is seamless, with the relationship and friendship between the carer and both clients already established.

Couples’ care at home can also be less costly when compared to moving into a care home. Couples in a care home require two separate rooms and care plans, doubling the cost of care. Whereas, with live-in care a couple are cared for by one carer and stay within their family home.

If you are currently exploring care options for yourself and your partner, or your parents / grandparents, and feel they would benefit staying together within the comfort of their own home, please contact our friendly Client Services team.
