Cripps, in conjunction with The Good Care Group, are hosting a dementia awareness evening on Tuesday 19th May from 6pm to 8pm at Cripps offices in Kings Hill.

Law firm Cripps is tackling one of the biggest health and social challenges the country faces head on.

One person is diagnosed with dementia every three minutes in the UK, and to mark Dementia Awareness Week, Cripps is hosting a free advice session to explain and discuss the issues on Tuesday 19 May from 6.00pm at their Kings Hill office. The event is being organised in conjunction with award-winning provider of Live-In Care services to older people The Good Care Group which provides live-in care services to the elderly.

“We will talk about some of the practical and legal issues surrounding the care of people with dementia with particular emphasis on relieving the pressure on their families,” said Cripps partner Anne Lewis, who sits on the Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners International Committee of the Special Interest Group on mental capacity and will chair the event.

Stephen Horscroft from Cripps will explain the benefits of Power of Attorney and the role of the Court of Protection and Dr Penny Hibberd RN, RMN, DN, PGCLT(HE) Consultant Admiral Nurse, at the Good Care Group will discuss understanding dementia and how the families of dementia sufferers can have the difficult first conversation with their loved one.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions after the presentations and Stephen and Penny will be available for 10 minute one-on-one sessions afterwards.

Places are limited and anyone interested in attending should contact Lucy Steer on 01892 506208 or email her on lucy.steer@cripps.co.uk. One-on-one sessions should be booked at the same time if required.
