Family support and coping with dementia – an awareness event
26 November 2015
Recognising that dementia will touch the lives of many people in some shape or form, Whitehead Monckton in conjunction with The Good Care Group, are hosting a dementia awareness event at our offices in Tenterden.
We’ll talk about some of the practical and legal issues surrounding the care of people with dementia with particular emphasis on relieving the pressure on their families.
Caroline Speed is a solicitor with expertise in dealing with elderly clients with capacity issues. She will explain the benefits of Powers of Attorney and the role of the Court of Protection. She will also touch on the importance of ensuring Wills are both up to date and written to ensure they reflect family circumstances and do so in the most tax efficient way.
Dr Penny Hibberd and Elaine Ferris of The Good Care Group will discuss understanding dementia and how the families of dementia sufferers can have the ‘difficult first conversation’ with their loved ones. Penny is a specialist nurse/Admiral Nurse and Elaine is the Good Care Group Area Director for Kent.
The event also gives you the opportunity to have a 10 minute one-to-one discussion with Caroline or Penny, so you can ask more questions regarding your family’s specific circumstances. These will be available on a first come, first served basis.
