The UK’s most awarded live-in home care provider
The Good Care Group offers the best care and companionship when you need it most.
Our commitment to delivering the highest standard of care has seen us continually achieve the best possible rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and become the UK’s most awarded and accredited provider of home care services.
What is live-in care?
Live-in care begins when an expert, professional carer moves into a spare room in your home to provide round-the-clock support. It usually runs on a two week rota with a second carer. They will offer as much or as little care as you wish, with everything set out in a personalised care plan that’s agreed between us at the outset.
While the thought of having another person living in your home might sound daunting at first, we’re here to take you through the process step by step. The greatest care is taken to find the right person, someone with the skills and experience to support your needs, but also with a personality that suits you and encourages a genuine bond to grow over time.
Receiving 24 hour care at home is also a genuine alternative to care homes if you have long-term health needs.
Given the choice, many of us would rather continue living at home whilst receiving support but tend to assume care homes are the best or only option.
Live-in care enables you to get the professional support you need without leaving the comfort of home and helps you maintain the independence, choice and dignity that are vital to your health and happiness.
There’s none of the upheaval, stress or uncertainty that comes with moving home and your routine can stay the same. You can continue to lead your own life in familiar surroundings, with the support of professional carers trained to provide you with exceptional and compassionate care.
So much more than physical assistance
The support your carer provides goes far beyond staying on top of the housework or assisting you with your medical needs. Especially if you live alone, the benefits to your health and wellbeing of ongoing companionship and reconnecting with the people and activities you love are immeasurable.
How does live-in care differ from other types of care?
Unlike care homes and hourly care, The Good Care Group provides a more holistic service centred on you. What does that mean?
- A care plan uniquely developed to suit your needs, without rigid timetables or set routines
- Specialist care within the comfort of home from carers who have a true understanding of you as a person
- No disruption and upheaval of moving out of your home to receive 24 hour care
- Considerable and proven benefits to your health and wellbeing
- A more economical option compared to care homes – especially for couples who are able to stay together
- Stay in control of your life in your community with all your home comforts, including your pets
Are there different types of live-in care provider?
Live-in care comes either from a carer found for you by an introduction agency or from a provider’s fully managed and highly trained employee.
The Good Care Group employs, manages and trains all its carers far above industry standards. It means you don’t have to worry about their pay, holiday or sickness cover. And you’ll have a dedicated care manager who can handle any issues and make sure you’re receiving the best possible care at all times.
Who can The Good Care Group help?
There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to the care we provide. Our service is built around your specific needs and wishes, with carers carefully matched to you for their skills and experience as well as their personality and interests. Each is fully employed by us – we never use agency staff.
Our home care services can be provided over the long-term as well as on a short-term or respite basis.
We’re highly trained and experienced in caring for a range conditions including dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, cancer, palliative/terminal conditions, mobility and frailty.
Our care is highly adaptive and includes…
- Companionship care, where a team of carers supports you to carry out your daily activities comfortably and safely
- Personal care, helping you to maintain dignity in all aspects of life
- Complex care, helping you live an independent and comfortable life at home
What do live-in carers do?
Working in teams of two, on a two week rota, our carers provide round-the-clock assistance in the reassuring surroundings of home. Our service is nurse-led, to ensure you receive the highest standard of care.
A care assessment will ultimately determine the type and level of care that you require, but your carer could help with…
- General housework
- Attending social activities
- Household admin, including paying bills
- Keeping appointments
- Health and hygiene
- Cooking and nutrition
- Taking medication
- Specialist care for complex conditions
We create unique care plans tailored to your specific needs, meaning the services we offer will vary from one person to the next. You can find out more about the role of our carers here.
