Training & Development

Expert training from the start

All our professional carers, regardless of their level of experience complete a specialist and comprehensive, 17 module training programme developed by leading experts before they are placed in a client’s home.  Many of our carers are supporting individuals with specialist conditions and we provide these carers with advanced training, in addition to yearly refreshertraining on core and statutory modules.

Sharing a sense of team

Our induction training programme provides professional carers with an opportunity to come together and build a sense of team, whilst completing industry-leading training using a variety of learning platforms.

Comprehensive home care training

Our 17 module programme far exceeds the statutory requirements and covers everything from the task of caring, through to specialist training to support specialist conditions, such as dementia and Parkinson’s and those that will enhance lifestyle including culture, communication and our unrivalled cookery programme.

Our training programme is delivered using a variety of learning platforms, including interactive workshops, e-learning and reflective practice. It is a blended programme of learning including practical and theoretical applications, which is followed up by in-placement coaching and mentoring provided by a designated Care Delivery Manager.

Advanced training

Professional carers who are supporting clients with complex needs, are provided with specialist advanced training in dementia, Parkinson’s and depression to ensure the individual’s needs are totally fulfilled.

We are currently developing a suite of condition training to support our client’s conditions.

All carers will complete core and statutory refresher training annually using a blend of learning styles including distance learning, workshops, and e-learning.

Professionalising home care

Our ambition is to professionalise care and set the standards of care delivery in the sector.  When you join The Good Care Group you will have a clear pathway for professional development that ensures you have the skills, knowledge and experience to deliver the high standards of live-in care, including the opportunity to work towards enrolment on our own unique, Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care.

This 18 month vocational programme blends modules on communication and care delivery with specialist pathways that allow you to choose which area of care specialism you wish to focus on.

Our Apprenticeship includes the Diploma in Health and Social Care, which from January 2011 replaced the NVQ qualification.  If you already have an NVQ you can enrol on our Apprenticeship programme at the next Diploma level to enable you to continue your development.

This market-leading programme of learning will ensure you are trained, qualified and equipped to deliver the very highest standards of home care and improve the outcomes for our clients.

Developing our talent

Our programme of professional development surpasses anything else offered in the sector and far exceeds the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) regulatory requirements.  We want to develop you and every carer has a clear pathway of development identified, which will provide you with the opportunity to progress your career in care with us.
